Visitors packed into the Messe Stuttgart halls for the annual automotive shows including  Engine Expo. Autocraft showcased its new engine assembly service, full engine remanufacturing, our PTWA/RSW cylinder bore spraying techniques and cylinder head and block machining. Sister company Vertex Engineering Solutions showed an array of OEM machined and assembled component parts, and promoted its prototype machining and fixture services.

Commercial & Engineering Director Mike Hague-Morgan commented: “for the third year running, Autocraft has exhibited at Engine Expo and we continue to be very pleased with the level of interest, in particular with our PTWA/RSW plasma coating technology for cylinder bores. We were able to show visitors more information on our new engine build service as we now offer OEM standard engines for service and high-performance applications.”

Evie Fletcher, 15, has a dream to represent Great Britain at the 2020 Olympics in Tokyo. She spends most of her spare time, when not at school, training either in the gym or on the water in her Kayak. When this was brought to the attention of the Autocraft directors by Neil Fletcher, a Production Engineer at Autocraft, they offered to sponsor Evie by funding a new slalom kayak. This high-tech Kayak was specially built in Carbon Fibre and fitted to Evie’s exact size. Weighing half of her previous boat and with no seams this boat is much more manoeuvrable and should enable her to compete at the highest levels in order to achieve her goal.

The Kayak was officially handed over to Evie by Steve Harris, Managing Director of Autocraft at Holme Pierrepont in Nottingham, the National Water Sports Centre on a very cold snowy Sunday Morning in January. After taking delivery of her new craft she broke the ice on the lake and did her first training session of the day!

Everyone at Autocraft wishes Evie much success in her new Kayak.

Awful weather couldn’t dampen the spirits of the staff and their families during this year’s Autocraft company BBQ. The annual event, which takes place during the last Friday before the summer shutdown, provides a launchpad to the holidays and also the opportunity to congratulate and present gifts to Autocraft’s long service employees.  Co-owners Mike Hague-Morgan and Steve Harris also presented our annual Achievement Awards, for quality and attendance.

The highlight of the entertainment was the newly-introduced “Bungee Run” competition.  Staff entered teams of players into the knockout competition, and the final between ‘Liam’s Way or No Way’ and ‘No Strings Attached’ was a hard fought battle against the heavy rain creating very slippery conditions, but ‘Liam’s Way’ eventually took the crown. It turned out to be a very lucky day for Liam McNulty himself!

Autocraft employee and singer Paul Mitchell once again provided our musical entertainment for the afternoon. Staff and their families were also treated to a hog roast and BBQ, and donut stand for dessert. Facepainting, football and (wet) bouncy castles kept the children entertained throughout the afternoon.

Long Service Awards
Lenny Drew and Lance Gilbert both received money awards from Autocraft for 30 years service.
Rosemary McKnight received a money award for 25 years.
Lee Hall, Paul Charlesworth and Matt Browett all received engraved glassware for 20 years service.
Adam Brown received an engraved glass tankard for 15 years at Autocraft.

Annual Achievement Award
The annual achievement awards were also drawn. There were 4 nominations for the Quality Award which consists of 1 award of £200 which was won by Liam McNulty, and 30 nominations for the exceptional hard work, commitment and improvements, which consists of 3 prizes of £100 each, won by Bridget Hall, John Pullen and Liam McNulty again!

100% attendance record in 2014
There were 41 employees who have achieved this and Martin Ryder was drawn out of the hat to win a JVC 24” white LED TV/DVD.
